Best selfie digital camera - Casio Exilim TR60 review and new features

Not too long ago, I blogged about how I loved Casio's TR35, which I felt was THE best selfie camera at that time. I even brought it along with me to Taiwan to test some of its capabilities in landscape and low light scenery shots and the shots turned out really good!

Fast forward to a few years later and somehow, Casio outdid herself again. She has created the mother of all selfie cameras, with features that are designed to impress even the most experienced camwhore. -shifty eyes- That picture above? Taken with the new camera.

**WARNING TONS OF SELFIES AHEAD*

Behold, the Casio Exilim TR60(s).

The new model comes in four colours - Green (seems more minty to me), Pink, Violet and White. There are a couple new features added compared to their previous model, and these are so amazing I just had to share them!

  • Auto send photos to your phone via Bluetooth/Wifi

If you're wondering why influencers have such nice photos on instagram, one major factor is the camera that's used. It's no secret that the photos with amazing quality get the most likes! Influencers typically transfer pictures taken on their camera to their phone to be uploaded. Now that you're in on this secret, I'll tell you another one - the Casio TR60 can transfer your photos seamlessly.

You can bulk select photos you want to send to your phone and transfers are sooo fast!! You'll need to install the EXILIM app first though.

Here's a shot with the pretty Emily! Totally instagrammable.

  • Control the camera remotely
Once you've paired the camera to your phone, your phone can act as a 'remote control' and assist you in taking photos! This can apply to full length selfies (technically you're taking a photo of yourself) or, for selfie sticks when you're with a big group of friends.

This feature is super cool in my opinion, If I'm not mistaken, this is the first and only selfie camera that can do this 'link-up with your phone' function!! It is also perfect for solo travels when you can't get someone to take a photo for you.

PSST! You can view, select and even edit your photos on your phone even when the camera is switched off!

  • Variety of in-built filters

Whenever a camera comes with in-built filters, you... play around with them and see which surroundings suit them the most. One customizable feature is that you can set how fair or dark you want your pictures to look, and how flawless/glowy your skin will turn out in your photos! Adjustments come in 12 varying levels and 6 skin tone levels. Which is definitely more that what you'd ask for. Here are some shots I took with the filters!

High Key: For natural lighting. Note that Macro mode managed to capture the details on my bracelet!

Foggy: For softer, misty days

Fairy: Because you want to look like a princess

Nostalgia: Sentimental, much?

Vivid: Makes colours pop

Square: This was created just for Instagram lol

Impressed yet? That's not all.

  • Long Battery Life

The Casio TR60 has an incredible battery life! It takes about 240 shots and continued playback of approx 3 hours and 40 mins. Movie time would be approx 55 mins. 240 selfies a day anyone?

A shot in low-light, our complexion looks amazing even so!

I like how details aren't lost despite the brighter lights. I only charged the TR60 once a week.

  • Intuitive pad for easy toggle

Did you notice the pretty sparkly gem surrounding the camera's lens?? I love it!!

One of the new features to note in the Casio Exilim TR60 is its new intuitive Selfie Pad. This sensor can toggle between various functions such as zoom or Selfie Art mode by just sliding your finger along the frame! Now you can make quick adjustments without having to view the main menu. Super convenient btw.

  • Everything else is awesome

Photo with Fenyx, who is incredibly photogenic!

Just like her predecessors, the Casio TR60 is light and fits snugly into any lady's handbag or clutch. Some of my friends even mistook this for a phone!

Verdict? Absolutely love love love the cam!

Thanks Nicole, Peiling and the Casio team for the camera! Also thanks to TJ, Fenyx, Emily and Ng Ju Ann for photo appearances lol.

Woah I think this is the post with the most selfies hahaha. Be sure to check out the Casio TR60 when you can! The Casio Exilim EX-TR60 is made in Japan and is available at selected Casio authorised retailers such as Best Denki and Harvey Norman at suggested retail price of S$1,299.

Best selfie handheld compact digital camera - Casio Exilim TR-35 Review

A big thank you to the team at Oglivy and Casio for loaning me their highly anticipated and raved Casio Exilim TR-35!! If you haven't noticed, a number of my shots on Instagram and on my previous posts were captured using the popular camera, and I am totally in love with how the photos turn out on their 12 megapixel camera!!

They sent me an Exilim TR-35 in HOT PINK. When I opened the box I gasped as it was just so pretty and stylish. The new camera is packed with innovative and practical functions to help users capture the perfect selfie and create personalised short picture movies for instant sharing on social media, which I will share more about later!

It's very light and relatively thinner than most digital cameras, which makes it a breeze chucking it into your handbag and bringing it wherever you go. It features a 3-inch touchscreen display which can capture quite a wide angle for selfies which are great for group shots! There are a couple of editing and effect features like make up shots (which smoothen and brighten), painting, cutting out subjects, cropping, adding sparkles, etc. Apart from the stunning make up mode, the rest are pretty standard across Casio cameras.

The main feature of the TR-35 is its 360° rotating frame and 270° rotating display which contains a few ways for you to take photographs, depending on how you're holding the camera.

Convenient buttons

You can either press the screen, or press the button on the camera frame. One is usually more convenient to grip than the other. Major plus is that macro shots can be captured from 8cm and they turn out really well!

A new feature is their posing mode which allows you to set a timer and takes 5 consecutive shots. There's a guide voice prompting you while you change your stance. How cool is that? You can review your photos later and pick your favourite ones to Instagram ;) Which leads me to my FAVOURITE NEW FEATURE of the camera: Ability to send your picture seamlessly to your phone, and then uploading it on social media.

How to send your photos to your phone to upload to social media

Step 0: Download the "EXILIM Remote" on your App Store or Play Store
Step 1: Take your photo
Step 2: Press the phone icon on your screen, select the photos you want to be sent and hit "Send to phone"

Step 3: You will notice this screen! Use your phone to connect to this wifi hotspot, using the password.

Step 4: Once connected, open the 'EXILIM Remote' app that you've downloaded. You're done!

For more information and how to take remote photos, check out EXILIM Remote's website

Here are some snapshots I took with the Casio Exilim TR-35 so you can figure out their resolutions yourself!

Some potent cocktail mixes uniquely presented in bottles at Finalsip's launch! Low light and macro.

Notice the clarity of the picture! Taken at Hualien, Taiwan

I  LOVED how this shot turned out! The contrast of red and green just stands out so much. Spot the pagoda? I was just sitting there for the longest time taking it all in. Also taken at Hualien, Taiwan

Night shots are clear and lights aren't compromised! Raohe, Taipei.

New hairstyle selfie, make up mode that just makes your skin look dewy and soft *_*

This convenient and handy camera comes at a whooping retail price of SGD$1,199 which is reaaally expensive considering you can get an entry level DSLR with that kind of money. However, you've got to admit that the sheer size and genius of the rotating screen makes any selfie look good. You can experiment with different angles to find your favourite best side, and its lightweight makes it perfect to carry around in your bag. Best of all? You can share your photos on social media within seconds!

No other camera brands have come up with an innovative camera that is even near par to satisfy the appetites of selfie addicts.

Worth it? You make the choice.

Thank you again Oglivy and Casio!

Acer's new Windows 8 Devices for the geek in me

Through my university days, I relied heavily on my trusty Acer laptop for my projects, assignments and presentations. I was really dependent on it and if the laptop ever failed on me, I'd freak out. I'm happy to report though, it didn't.

My Acer laptop is still sitting proudly next to me right now, as I type on my desktop. I rarely use it as much now, and even though its battery pack is exhausted, it's still in pretty good condition!

Now that my laptop has pretty much reached the end of it's lifespan, it's time to upgrade. I'm eyeing Acer's Aspire S7 Ultrabook series S7-391 with its 13"3 screen Windows 8 gorilla glass cover and trendy, sophisticated look.

I'm blown away by its 10 point touch display, equipped with Acer's new signature touch interface, Acer Ring, designed to launch by placing five fingers on the touch screen. This new interface provides a shortcut to browse the web, play music, view photos and even documents!

The new laptop boasts up to 12 hours of battery life with a Twin Air cooling system so you don't ever have to worry about your laptop overheating. How did Acer do this while maintaining the slim exterior yet tough enough to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use?

Aspire S7-391 will be on shelves with list prices from SGD$1,998

Another product which caught my eye is the Acer Aspire 7600U, but my desktop monitors are working fine now so... I suppose I'll just have to oogle from afar.

The 27-inch Aspire, perfect for watching movies or dramas on your computer, is ultra slim at just 35mm and can set a tile angle of 30 to 80 degrees! You can also swivel it vertically to use as an e-book reader display.

Plus!! It's a touch screen made especially to support the Windows 8 operating system from Microsoft! It supports up to 64 point simultaneous touch (which means 7 people can technically touch your screen at the same time, minus 6 fingers) and completely changes the interaction with your computer. Group project discussions are now easier to edit and control!

With current hype over Near Field Communication, Acer has integrated this technology into the desktop so you can pay for online purchases by bringing your mobile devices close to the screen's frame! The future is definitely here!

There are a ton of other features but I highlighted the few that I liked the best. Of course it has a dedicated graphics GPU, a NVIDIA 630M, a blu-ray disc drive, and even a TV tuner , and to top off the multimedia experience, surround sound speakers!

The Aspire 7600U is available on shelves with list price from SGD$2,799.

To show their dedication to supporting the new Windows 8 operating system from Microsoft, Acer will also be releasing a whole family of products for all budgets and uses, other than the two i've already mentioned above! Be sure to check the rest of their new products out at www.acer.com.sg

Thank you Zerika and Natalie and Acer for the Red Ferrari Motion Wireless Laser Mouse! Not only is it sleek but it's also in my favourite colour hehe.

Here's a random picture of me with an anime character. Have been sick the past week so no mood to dress up urgh. Have a great weekend everyone!

Panasonic's new portable charger, and a little bit of luck.

This post is an epic story of how 11 people ended up in a van that costs $80 for a trip and how I won an iPhone 4S, all in one night.

Was invited for an event by Panasonic and it was held at Orchard Parade Hotel's K-suite! We had the biggest room which came with a pool table, a wii corner and of course, huge area for Karaoke!

I didn't take much photos at the event because my feet/shoes were wet and cold so that put me in like, a downer mood in the beginning, then things got so fun so fast I didn't take photos either hahah. Let me tell you the background story.

I rushed over to Orchard and reached at 6.45pm. Intended to walk from Wheelock place to Orchard Parade Hotel, but alas, it was RAINING CATS AND DOGS. Like super heavy. And I was trapped there with Hong Peng, Jessie, Shu Qing, William, Shaun, Terence and some other bloggers. We thought that the rain would subside after a while, but it DIDN'T. So someone called the organizers to inform them that we were stuck at Wheelock. Tried calling a cab but all the lines were engaged. I was getting pretty impatient (7.25pm when the event started at 7) so I called the organizers and asked if they could send over a car, or a hotel pick-up or something.

No one drove :(

Some of the guys were about to give up and wanted to buy umbrellas from Daiso ($2) and walk in the super heavy rain to Orchard Parade Hotel (15 mins walk at least) but luckily someone found a website address for a Maxi Cab, which would fit 7 people.

I called and the line got through! I told the guy that there was 11 of us, and coincidentally there was a van that could fit 11 people nearby, who could pick us up and drive us to our destination!

It cost $80. (The 7 seater was $50). The reason for the price was because the intention was for Point A to Point B travel, any part of Singapore, for that fixed price.

Just our luck that ours was a 5 minute drive away.

However, by then we were so desperate, we agreed anyway.

We still had to walk like 30 steps in the rain, sharing one umbrella (hence poor Shaun had to go back and forth to ferry people across) Plus, I decided to wear white PANTS that day, urgh. This is how my feet got wet!

Finally reached Orchard Parade Hotel, and one of the organizers, Joshua, came out #likeaboss to help us pay for the van ride. Haha.

Was sooo hungry by the time we reached. I think it was 8.15pm or something? And we felt so bad that the entire event was pushed back because they were waiting for the 11 of us.

Some games were organized for us, mainly a pictionary segment and a complete the story video segment! Pictionary is self-explanatory but the complete the story was, basically, we were shown some videos, and at the climax the video stopped so it was open to anyone's interpretation to continue with it!

I didn't want to pick the most common one, so I picked the seemingly most boring one, where a guy was at Raffles Place about to head for a meeting when his phone died and he didn't know the venue of the meeting!

Comes with charger to charge your portable charger and a cable from charger to phone :)

I wrote that he went to Mcdonald's, found a girl to borrow the portable charger from, and she suddenly left, he met her at the meeting that same night. I watch too much drama and I am a romantic at heart.

Thanks Christina for the photo!

Somehow I won the first prize!! Which was an Iphone 4S!! Second prize was a HTC One X, third was a Blackberry Curve.

Thanks Christina for the photo!

Thank you so much to the folks at Panasonic for the iPhone 4S!!! It was so amazing I couldn't believe it. I didn't think that my story would be picked but I really really wanted to win it!!

So they introduced us to their latest product, the portable mobile phone charger. Which i carry around with me on almost everyday because my phone battery runs out so fast (thanks to ig, fb, twitter)

If you need an android charger, you know which brand to get! Also, check out how I made the wire into a star. HAHA.
